About Good Samaritan Rescue Mission

1. Has "Around-the-Clock" Check-in. We receive homeless clients twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We're never closed.
2. Requires no ID-many homeless lose their backpack or whatever they carry their important papers in. We help them begin the process of restoring their IDs.
3. Has a "Reasonably Sober Policy"-police may drop intoxicated people off in the middle of the night. If the person can make the stairs without assistance and is not combative, we receive them. However, we have a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol, or weapons on our property.
4. Allows homeless to come in with their pets-homeless people team up with homeless dogs because the dog will bark when someone approaches them while sleeping. The dog becomes their security and their only friend. Many will sleep on the street rather than abandon their dog.
5. Allows daytime access to the dormitories. We are both a Day and a Night Shelter. We close the dorms and lobbies in the morning just long enough for housekeeping to get everything cleaned-then we re-open at 11 a.m. for the rest of the day; however, there are plenty of places to hang out on property while the cleaning is being done We have a courtyard, a beautiful park, and a coffee house to gather in.
6. Serves three hot meals every day of the year.
7. Has an in-depth day labor program-we transport them to and from the job site, provide a sack lunch, and pay them each evening-seven days a week. We are never closed. Not having to wait for a first paycheck is a real advantage to a person who can't even buy a tube of toothpaste or a Coke. Most find a permanent job quickly!
8. Has a "Guests Giving Back" Program ~ allows someone with no job and no government check to stay indefinitely (as long as they need to). He or she simply reports to the Welcome Desk each day for their assignment which is either cleaning a section of our facility, or helping in the kitchen, or folding and sorting in our General Store. Each person helps for an hour or so in exchange for their bed rather than having to pay rent or having to check out after a set number of days.
9. Presents the Gospel to every person that checks in to our shelter. There is a gospel tract in every "Welcome Packet" along with a typewritten bottom line of the gospel. In addition, we have scripture reading and prayer over our speaker system each morning, and we have Chapel Services, Bible Studies, and Christian Movie Nights.

This shelter accepts the homeless AND their pets
